When I became an undergraduate student at Sichuan University in Chengdu, China in 1999, I first saw real Metasequoia trees. At that time I knew its name was Shui-Shan (水杉, meaning “water fir” in Chinese). It looked so fresh and light, and quickly attracted my attention. The green, feather-like, leafy shoots were displayed against the clear water of a lake. Our first meeting was in a primary school textbook. To check my ideabooks, left click on my name, & click on ideabooks.Metasequoia glyptostroboides (dawn redwood) is my favorite plant. Please check my ideabooks for lighting, art, accent chairs & rugs. If you have an Ikea in your area, they have a good selection of window coverings at very excellent prices. If adding drapes, hang them almost to the ceiling & bring down to the floor. Place 3 nice pillows on the sectional to tie in with the color of the area rug and/or accent chairs. Have the chairs angled toward the TV & sectional, not quite at right angles. Place the front legs of sectional on one side of rug & then include your chairs. After installing your wood floors for consistency throughout your house, place an area rug to group together your furnishings. I wish I was able to post photos like others on this site. Add a small end table between chairs and an arc floor lamp next to your sectional. Instead of coffee table use a storage type ottoman. You will certainly have some room for two more accent chairs. I think the mantle should be lowered if doing this, so visibility would be more optimum. Maybe if you refaced the upper area above the mantle with concrete board, had an electrician install the wiring for the TV & components & applied a tile on the concrete board behind TV. I wish I knew how to help on installing the TV above fireplace. ![]() It's been tricky trying to renovate, entertain, vacation, and otherwise go about our business with a dog who's so desperately bonded to us that he's unsafe to others, but we work it out and have fun doing it. I think she knew us well enough to know we'd be able to help him. She heard the sound of breaking glass as he was climbing the walls and knocked down a picture as she came down the hallway to meet him, opened the door and as I turned around from picking up what glass I could, she said, "Oh, thank God it's you!" LOL. She hadn't noticed my name as she glanced through the records, alarmed at all of his failed placements. The first day we had him I took him to our vet to get checked out - she knew us well through our last Pyr, Raleigh, a gentle soul. I'm guessing they either called him that, or called his treats that. One day last week I absent-mindedly called him my little "Herky Jerky," and he whipped around like you would if someone called out your name in a foreign country and practically tackled me to the floor like a 100 lb. ![]() My work with foster children helps me to understand that all of that is a part of who he is, and while we often call him Everest-Boo because he was Boo for a while in a wonderful foster home, there are times when I try to reach, nurture and comfort the lonesome little puppy that was Hercules, if that makes sense. After Hercules, he was briefly called Willy, then Spirit, then Boo, and now and forever Everest. ![]() He was Hercules for his first six to eight months, and my best guess based on what he's able to tell me is that he was alone a lot - and harshly disciplined and trained or encouraged to be aggressive when he wasn't. lolīsellers I can tell you get his journey. until they finally fill out enough to look healthy. i would think growing season would affect annual growth. as would anything that had significant white in the leaf tissue. so i would presume yellow would be lesser. the further you get from plain old green. apparently he is growing faster than your meta's. but i remember seeing that boy toddling about the yard.
